Seduced in the Dark (Dark Duet #2) by CJ Roberts

Seduced in the Dark by C.J. Roberts

BOOK TWO OF THE DARK DUET
The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.

What is the price of redemption?

Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.

The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it’s all coming to an end.

Can he surrender the woman he loves for the sake of vengeance?

Or will he make the ultimate sacrifice?

Quote:
It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. For Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.

Rating: 5 Stars

God, the things I want to do to you right now...What do you say we get out of here? I need to lay you down on a bed ~Ryan

HOT! HOT! HOT!  Tina Reber definitely took the romance, sex and passion up a notch with the second installment of the Love series. I have been WAITING for this!!! Oh how I have missed Ryan and Taryn. Romance, sex, marriage proposal and the craziness of Hollywood....all wrapped up in Love Unrehearsed.

For me, kissing Ryan Christensen was like drinking instant passion. ~Taryn

After the insane incidents that Taryn and Ryan had to endure in the previous story, it was time to relax, plan their wedding and enjoy being with one another....right???

And I thought that Love Unscripted had crazy drama. Reber has out done herself. The events that unfold between Ryan, Taryn and their inner circle will keep you reading in to the wee hours. This novel has become one of my faves!!! Thank you Ms. Reber...when is the next one coming?????

Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet: Book 1) by C.J. Roberts

Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1)

Published July 20 2011

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.(Goodreads)

Review: 4.5 Stars

I do not even know where to begin with this review.  I finished the book awhile ago but I haven't been able to form words yet.  This book is heartbreaking, confusing, uncomfortable and bittersweet. It is not for the weak.  At times it was hard to read but well worth it.

Captive in the Dark is an amazing roller coaster ride.  The author's writing is beautiful.  It is hard to separate yourself from the characters' emotions while reading this.    The horrendous things that Livvie experiences while being held prisoner are uncomfortable to read.  The attraction that develops is confusing and heartbreaking for Livvie and Caleb.

"He was my tormentor and my solace; the creator of the dark and the light within."

"For the first time in recent memory, Caleb wanted something other than revenge.  He wanted the girl.  He wanted Livvie."

I can honestly say that it will be a long while before this book leaves me.  I am already reading the 2nd, Seduced in the Dark and it is amazing!!

Being Anti-Social by Leigh Cunningham

Published May 27, 2012

Mace Evans is single at thirty-eight. When her much unloved older sister, Shannon, declares that Mace is anti-social, she embarks on a journey to understand her condition; whether she was born that way or if it is the accumulation of thirty-eight years of unfortunate encounters with other humans and dogs.

For reasons unbeknown to Mace, she has an affair with a work colleague, which brings an unexpected end to her perfect marriage. And as if the self-imposed torture and regret is not enough, Mace endures ongoing judgment from her older sister and mother, which further exacerbates already tenuous relationships.

With support from her four best friends, Merlot and pizza, and with guidance from her life coach and mentor, Oscar Wilde, Mace recovers to a degree, but in her quest to understand her anti-social ways, she finds herself wondering about the quality of the fabric that keeps her network of friends intact.

When Mace's mother is diagnosed with cancer, Mace searches for common ground on which to connect before it is too late. (GoodReads)

Rating: 4.0 Stars

I like Merlot with everything, except cereal and milk.

The story of a tight group of 5 friends, interesting plots with men, a mom and sister that are constantly nagging, self realization,  and endless supplies of Merlot....what woman would not enjoy this read??

Mace Evans is the middle child of 5 children,  and very different from her siblings. Self proclaimed independent, her family has labeled her as anti-social. There's nothing wrong with keeping to oneself...the majority of the time, right???

Despite the anti-social label, Mace is surrounded by an eclectic group of 4 ladies that keep the entertainment going throughout the book. If it weren't for the seemingly endless supply of Merlot, I am not sure how Mace would have survived her family visits, dealing with a love lost, family tragedy,  and the numerous sagas with the girls.

Is it not extraordinary that a caterpillar can become a butterfly? If they can change so dramatically then so can I-I can be likable; I can be sociable.

Being Anti-Social, is award-winning author Leigh K. Cunningham’s second novel for adult readers. I enjoyed the dry humor, sentimental moments, and reality of friendship and family circles that reigned throughout the novel.

I really enjoyed Ms. Cunningham's writing style. Her humor and wit resound throughout the entire novel. Her use of witty Oscar Wilde quotes kept me laughing amidst the sequence of events that Mace finds herself in.

This was one novel that I didn't want to tear through. I found myself taking my time to read; a chapter or two at a time...usually with a glass (or 3) of Merlot.
